Sand Preparation

Simpson Multi-Cooler

BENEFIT FROM OPTIMAL GREEN SAND COOLING, PREMIXING & MOISTURE CONTROL WITH THE SIMPSON MULTI-COOLER

Simpson Speedmullor

In medium- to large-sized sand systems, higher volumes of throughput demand greater productivity from the sand preparation plant. The Speedmullor® is carefully designed and proportioned to achieve maximum mixing performance and energy efficiency while still providing some versatility in applications typical to these sizes of sand systems.

Simpson Multi-Mull
Continuous Mulling

The Most Advanced Sand Preparation Tool for Medium to Large FoundriesAs molding lines get larger and faster, modern foundries require larger volumes of high quality molding sand produced at the lowest total cost. Foundries that use batch mixers experience downtime when they do not have an adequate supply of sand. In addition, these batch mixers produce non-uniformity in the molding sand which negatively impacts the quality of castings.

Simpson Mix-Muller
Batch Mixer

In small to medium-sized sand systems or difficult mixing applications, versatility is critical. The Mix-Muller has been carefully designed and proportioned to achieve maximum performance, versatility and energy efficiency in these types of applications.

Rotary Polygon Screens

Webac polygonal screens are distinguished by their simple construction and reliable operation. The sieve body has six surfaces and is equipped with a dust-tight steel plate housing. It rotates around a drive shaft fitted with generously sized encapsulated ball bearings. The screens are made from high quality steel wire fixed to a hardwood frame, and can be replaced quickly and easily. Depending on the actual screen size, the housing is fitted with one or two large inspection flaps which are easily opened using gas pressure shock absorbers. The turning of the drum continually circulates the material for screening while it falls from one screen surface to another. Through screening and the related comminution and friction on the lumps in the sand, the loss from the sand cycle is kept to a minimum. In addition, the sand is fluffed up and aerated.

Aerators

The over-belt sand aerator is fitted to a conveyor belt. The aerator wheel, which is positioned transversely to the direction of the belt, gathers the moulding sand from the belt, and throws it, parallel to the direction of the belt, into an expansion hood, where the sand trickles back on to the conveyor belt.

Simpson Hartley Dosing Systems

The Simpson Hartley Model 90Mk2 Additive Dosing System has been designed to provide precision weight control and pneumatic injection of dry materials (primarily bentonite/clay) to a muller in a fully automated mixer group. The 90Mk2 is designed to be used and integrated together with a Simpson Hartley Model 2502-L1 or 2552-B1 Compactability Controller and relies on the controller for automatic operation.

Simpson BFS Dosing Systems

The Simpson Model BFS additive dosing system has been designed to provide continuous dosing of dry materials (primarily bentonite clay) to a continuous cooler or continuous muller in a fully automated system. The BFS is supplied specifically to be used together with the main control systems of a Simpson Multi-Cooler or Simpson Multi-Mull and relies on the control systems of those machines for automatic operation.

Controlling the consistency of your sand is essential in producing higher quality castings and increasing your overall profitability. But controlling compactability swings, stabilizing your moisture levels and reducing sand related defect rates can be a challenge.

The Simpson Hartley control system and compactability controller has been designed to precisely control green sand compactability, bond addition and water addition as well as provide full automation for an entire mixer/muller group. The compactability controller also measures and records green strength and moisture.

When combined with a capable batch or continuous muller, the Simpson Hartley enables you to:
